The C3D Project
The Climate Change Capacity Development (C3D) project was launched late 2003 by the Climate Change Programme of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). This project addresses capacity needs for climate change in developing countries through an innovative training and capacity building partnership as stated in the UNFCCC Decision 2 CP/7. This is a multi donor programme funded by the European Commission, Danida, Irish Aid and the Swiss Agency for Environment (see Funding Sources page).
Project implementation interim reports were regularly produced to donors and most recently in May 2007 and in April 2008 together with Annexes presenting the concrete results achieved by the all partners. These reports are compiled into a single document decribing the multiple effective impacts of their training activities on capacity building and the decision-makers in the developing countries/Non Annex I (see full documents below). A final report will be produced in Summer 2009.
1st Interim Report of Project Activities and Annexes (2007)
2nd Interim Report of Project Activities (2008)

The C3D+ Initiative is a new step forward directly involving 6 training centres covering around 30 developing countries who will benefit from a training programme on climate change related issues. The C3D+ team will continue reinforcing the network's ability to deliver targeted training and capacity development at the national and regional levels with the three following strategic objectives:
The project is in its final stage of approval by the EC and cost-sharing is widely open to bilateral donors. A first project meeting will be organised on the occasion of the UNFCCC COP in Poznan early December 2009.
