The Initiative

Capacity Development for Adaptation to Climate Change & GHG Mitigation in Non-Annex I Countries or C3D+

The objective of this project is to improve the ability of developing countries to address climate change by the development of adaptation measures and the planning of mitigation strategies.

The specific objectives of providing such scientific and technical assistance to these countries are multiple. First, this assistance can be used to promote dialogue to make non Annex I countries development more sustainable by integrating climate change issues into national sustainable development strategies. It will also place developing countries in a better position to effectively engage in the UNFCCC process in support of the development and implementation of a global and comprehensive post-2012 climate change agreement. The proposed technical and scientific assistance will increase relevant human and institutional capacities in targeted developing countries and will contribute to mainstreaming climate change issues into development programming.

The estimated results of this project are around 2,000/3.000 persons trained over 3 years, at least 12 workshops held, increased capacity of the centres to develop their own capacity trainings and increased sustainability and direct involvement of the centres in other international training activities.
