Introduction to C3D

Climate Change Capacity Development

The objective of the Climate Change Capacity Development (C3D) project is to support capacity development in developing countries in the area of climate change.
The short term aims of the project are:

development of training programmes by each of the project partners in their respective area of expertise, thereby reducing dependence on research from Northern institutes and organizations;

  • greater South-South collaboration between project partners, at the regional level and beyond.

In the longer term, the expected results or impacts of the project are:

  • strengthening and maintenance of the regional partners' capacity to develop and implement training programmes; awareness raising of high-level government representatives (national focal points and other concerned actors) in developing countries; and successfully transferring the skills and know-how to relevant stakeholders
  • strengthening the capacity of developing country delegates to effectively contribute to international debates on climate change; ensure a strong follow-up at the national level in order to fulfil country commitments to the UNFCCC and to integrate climate change policies into national sustainable development strategies.

The C3D project partners are:

  • ENDA-TM in Dakar, Sénégal;
  • ERC in Cape Town, Afrique du Sud;
  • MIND in Colombo, Sri Lanka;
  • UNITAR in Genève, Suisse.
